Why the name Pearls?

A pearl begins with an oyster and a piece of grit.  The grit causes a painful irritant that the oyster coats with layer upon layer of nacre in an effort to protect itself. The pearl is created because of the continual wounding.  It grows and grows as the damaging effects of the irritation are covered over.  It takes work and it takes a lot of time.  But it produces a valuable, beautiful result: the pearl.

A genuine pearl is beautiful and has great value. Pearls are the only natural gems that are created through struggle.  A pearl can only be made when its vessel has been wounded, and the vessel creates something exceptionally beautiful to heal the pain.

Pearls are also the only gems that are not manipulated by being cut or polished by the hands of men. Their beauty is created only because of the struggle.

Matthew 13:45-46 states that:

“The kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it."

You are God’s pearl of great price. You are the Lord’s priceless treasure.  This is how God thinks of you, this is how God feels about you, this is how God acts toward you. His love for you is so great that it sends Him like a merchant focused on finding THE PEARL (YOU) at all costs. He is passionately pursuing you.  He was willing to give up His son, Jesus and make the ultimate sacrifice just so He could have a relationship with you!
